I love the orangy colored backdrop for this announcement, feels so apropos and cheeky. Netflix announced that it will be airing the Jeju Island set K-drama When Life Gives You Tangerines (Korean title Thank You for Your Hard Work) this year in 2024. The drama stars IU and Park Bo Gum as the leads and will go through eras with … Continue reading →

It … Continue reading →
So the word in C-ent is that the production of C-drama Immortality (Hao Yi Xin) adapted from the BL novel The Husky and His White Cat Shizun also known as Erha is attempting yet another try for airing approval. This is not a surprise the drama was a S-level production costing millions of dollars in production costs, is done with … Continue reading →
I think it is just a timing coincidence that this news came out on the same week that Netflix has started promotions for Squid Game 2. Unexpected breakout star O Yeong Su, who played the excited gameplayer grandpa in the original Squid Game and took home the Golden Globe Award for Best Supporting Actor in 2022, is facing a 1 … Continue reading →
So it’s fascinating always to look deeper into why a project succeeds or fails. And for modern friendship and romance C-drama Love Endures airing on terrestrial Jiangsu TV and streaming platform Youku it’s not done as well as expected. Youku is marketing the heck out of it as best it can and there is viewership, so the issue is that … Continue reading →

But its release means its closer to airing and indeed the K-drama The Queen of Tears is coming next month in March 2024. I feel like the expected success of xianxia C-drama Love Between Devil and Fairy in 2022 made everyone think that xianxia dramas were more than just niche offerings with the occasional success. Otherwise how to explain the expectations for recent xianxia offerings like The Last Immortal and now both Chinese Paladin game adaptations Sword and Fairy 4 based on CP4 … Continue reading →
The biggest Netflix K-drama of 2024 as anticipated has kicked off promos as the platform released the first official stills for Squid Game 2. I liked but didn’t love the drama but it was a bona fide global phenomenon when it aired in early 2021 and carried the wave of pandemic claustrophobia and fear of financial insecurity paired with gameplay … Continue reading →

The first Fox Spirit Matchmaker C-drama adaptation the Yue Hong chapter hasn’t even aired yet and the third one has started filming. Reportedly the production team wanted to air the first chapter and recoup some money from investing through to the third chapter but due to permit and timing it’s banking that all three will be a hit so went … Continue reading →
So I see a trend here with C-actress Liu Shi Shi and I’m not sure if it’s intentional or coincidental. She’s in talks for a period C-drama titled Kill My Sins and earlier in the month it was rumored to costar Deng Wei. But now the male actor in talks for the lead is Shawn Dou (Dou Xiao) and honestly … Continue reading →
