I thought February 2021 was like crazy far away when I first heard that Park Shin Hye was signing on for a sci-fi thriller drama Sispyhus: The Myth with Jo Seung Woo. Yet now it’s like a month away, and wishing to slow down time clearly doesn’t work because I need to stop the next few years before the Koala … Continue reading →
Okay, the two cuties are just wayyyyy too cute, I think I may be able to watch this drama regardless of whether it’s written or directed well. The combo of Kim So Hyun‘s cool perfection and Ji Soo‘s hotheaded earnestness for upcoming sageuk River Where the Moon Rises feels like the ideal opposites attract in both their personas off screen … Continue reading →
Over Christmas 2020 the anime movie Demon Slayer: Infinity Train (Kimetsu no Yaiba: Mugen Train) surpassed Spirited Away to become the #1 box office hit in Japan. Along the way it passed Your Name and Titanic as well, and honestly even I am surprised despite being a Demon Slayer mega fan. Spirited Away is my favorite Miyazaki movie and honestly … Continue reading →
Well this is a nice pairing and a drama genre that works well for both. Kim Kang Woo and Su Ae will be the leads for mid year 2021 jTBC drama Working City, a thriller about covert actions and sacrifices to maintain society, and the scheming people who covet more power and wealth. I’ve really enjoyed the more tense thrillers … Continue reading →
I’m glad Netflix isn’t hoarding finished projects and appears to have a deft hand in releasing new titles quickly. The sci-fi action flick Space Sweepers (Spaceship Victory) was stymied twice in attempted movie release in South Korea during the multiple COVID-19 spikes last year so the production practically went and sold the movie rights to streaming giant Netflix with hopefully … Continue reading →
I don’t think Kim Eun Sook is an award winning level of pure writer but her dramas are undoubtedly always worth a watch, whether to enjoy or kvetch or both. It’s no surprise that many of Korea’s top actors and actresses have chosen to star in her works, even Jeon Do Yeon who is considered the most legit true actress … Continue reading →
The hits keep on coming for Chinese director and screenwriter Guo Jingming, best known for his Tiny Times novels and movie adaptations. Recently he published a formal apology to writer Zhuang Yu for plagiarizing her novel 17 years ago, which he was sued and lost but never formally apologized back then. His new movie the fantasy wuxia Yin Yang Master … Continue reading →
The ’87er line is one of the deepest and most famous with the actors who are leading men in South Korean dramas and many are friends in real life. Two donggap cuties had an adorable phone call this week and posted it to share with fans – Lee Min Ho rang up Lee Seung Gi and did a color swapped … Continue reading →
Almost every one of my actor baes came back with a K-drama in 2020 but Song Joong Ki was one of the few who didn’t. But he’s primed on deck to be one of the first in 2021 as filming has commenced for early 2021 tvN drama Vincenzo. I don’t think the cast can travel to Italy for the overseas … Continue reading →
Man, it feels like everyone was on vacation the last week of 2020 and have returned to work this first week of 2021 on crack levels of news dropping. K-actress Song Hye Kyo will be making her next drama return with the confirmed casting as the female lead in hit screenwriter Kim Eun Sook‘s upcoming project. There is no title … Continue reading →
So one hand declines one other and the other hand signs on to another, thanks for not letting me wait for news Kim Soo Hyun-sshi! The top actor recently passed on Netflix drama Finger but is sticking with the thriller genre and has accepted his next project, the K-drama That Night. Joining him in the dual male lead role is … Continue reading →
It’s a blank slate for Netflix original K-drama Finger, but with the situation as it is hopefully the production regroups to figure out the next steps. K-actor Kim Soo Hyun was in talks for the male lead of the drama but this week officially declined. I don’t think it means he won’t do a Netflix drama in the future, just … Continue reading →
Can you guys believe it’s been 7 years, and 8 years next year in 2021, since Answer Me 1994 rocketed Jung Woo to superstardom with international drama fans. He was already doing plenty of movies in Korea before then but few dramas, and whether he’s just got the best agent or serendipity made him pick AM94 it ended up being … Continue reading →
