I’ve been waiting for the drama to really give me a balanced OTP to care about, to make both ends of the main leads equally invested in the outcome. Episode 8 of Queen Cheorin (Mr. Queen), by taking the Queen out of the palace and making the King actually think about what he’s dealing with, raised the stakes and intensity … Continue reading →
The arrival of 2021 means so much because everyone I know can’t wait for the dumpster fire of 2020 to end, however symbolically. But it’s unclear what the new year holds and in the fashion world it’s that odd uncertainty as to whether people even embrace high couture, jewelry, and accessories in a world heading in the direction of prolonged … Continue reading →
I didn’t know that upcoming jTBC sci-fi action drama Sisyphus: The Myth was to commemorate the network’s 10th anniversary. Clearly it’s a tentpole production with top stars Jo Seung Woo and Park Shin Hye, and from the teasers looks like money was put to use with the action scenes and special effects. With that said the niggling worry with K-dramas … Continue reading →
A new record is getting set and I’m getting more interested in following the ratings than the drama itself. It would also be cool to see tvN gain back the throne from rival jTBC. Sat-Sun drama Queen Cheorin (Mr. Queen) increased in ratings yet again, crossing the 12% mark to hit 12.414%. It’s tied with Goblin as the fasted tvN … Continue reading →
This is an unfortunate situation all around but the replacement feels like a boon for the production and viewers. SBS Fri-Sat drama Delayed Justice has been fraught with so many problems from Kwon Sang Woo getting injured to COVID-19 shut downs and the most recent was the other male lead Bae Sung Woo getting fired from the show after his … Continue reading →
There is news around early 2021 K-drama You Are My Spring, and it feels like a one-for-one equal swap. Yoon Kye Sang was in talks for the drama but this week declined, but the production moved fast as Kim Dong Wook is now going to be the male lead. The female lead is Seo Hyun Jin who is just a … Continue reading →
As a personal preference, I’m not into bad boys with leather jackets, long hair, and artfully grungy look, mine is all clean cut, perfectly tailored suit, and a pair of aviators. With that said, boy does K-actor Ryu Jun Yeol look so fiiiinnnnneee this year. I clearly was living under a rock that I didn’t know he grew out his … Continue reading →
The 2020 KBS Drama Awards was a free for all as well, and a mix of face masks, social distancing, and still walking the red carpet. The bulk of the awards went to the various cast members of weekend drama Once Again and daily drama Homemade Love Story, as both were the sole shining ratings lights for the network. Daddy … Continue reading →
Okay, if anyone puts down one drama at the expense of the other just to troll shit up then imma yeet you right out of the comments section, m’kay? The production teams are good to drama fans to finish up 2020 as tons of teasers are dropping left and right. Two of the most anticipated sageuk dramas of 2021 both … Continue reading →
There have been so many shocking (as in never thought of those two together) Dispatch dating news breaks on New Year’s Day though the last two years have felt rather meh in big names. I still remember Rain–Kim Tae Hee as I was running through the airport to catch a early morning New Year’s Day flight out of Hokkaido, and … Continue reading →
The 2020 SBS Drama Awards are in the bag and boy was it a stuffed bag. The stars didn’t do the red carpet, only hosts Kim Yoo Jung and Shin Dong Yeop was masked and met the media. The attendees from presenters to winners were segregated in rooms in the back and only came out to accept awards so this … Continue reading →
Now this sounds like a project way more suitable for Kim Go Eun than her last role. She’s picked her next acting gig and it will be the K-drama adaptation of widely read webtoon Yumi’s Cells. The story is based on female lead Yumi who is an ordinary office worker who grows through love and professional learning and the twist … Continue reading →
Cable network tvN has been dominating for the last decade in producing great content and fans have been clamoring for them to hold their own year end drama awards like the Big Three. This year that’s even less likely to happen but the network did announce how well some of it’s dramas did this year in broadcast and feedback. The … Continue reading →
