We’re headed into the dog days of summer and the rankings are out for the content power index in Korean entertainment. Leading the way in K-drama buzz is MBC Wed-Thurs drama W: Two Worlds, a solid number 1 position for it’s fresh story and exciting narrative and rising each week in ratings. Coming in second is SBS Mon-Tues drama Doctors, … Continue reading →
The Ruby Lin–Wallace Huo wedding celebration moved from the destination locale of Bali back to their hometown of Taipei over the weekend, culminating with the lavish reception at the Palais de Chine Hotel. Ruby donned two different dresses that looked lovely on her and definitely much more obvious that she is expecting. During the Bali wedding she reportedly thanked guests … Continue reading →
The turnout was a smidge on the less-than-star-studded side for the VIP movie premiere of period film Princess Deokhye, starring Son Ye Jin and Park Hae Il on the life of the last princess of Korea. On the plus side there was weird fashion aplenty starting with a surfeit of ugly jean cuts, but made up by having a few … Continue reading →
K-actor Seo In Guk really is quite prolific, averaging about two dramas a year and even doing a fair amount of cameos. He’s currently starring in cable drama Squad 38 but is also diving into filming for upcoming MBC Wed-Thurs drama Shopping King Louie. I’m not a Seo In Guk fan so his pervasiveness in so many dramas doesn’t do … Continue reading →
SBS is really rocking and rolling with scheduling new dramas, and hopefully the network continues to do well in either ratings or critical reception. There seems to be no end of legal dramas, ever, and another is in the works called Defendant which is along the lines of a medical drama calling itself Doctor. Turns out Ji Sung may not be nursing … Continue reading →
Veteran K-actress Choi Ji Woo is no stranger to suitcases, adorably packing for her trip on variety show Grandpas Over Flowers two years ago, and last year packed up metaphorically to go back to her college days with Second Time Twenty Again. Now she becomes the titular Woman with a Suitcase, having confirmed her casting as the female lead for the … Continue reading →
This feels like the umpteenth time I’ve seen news articles that top Hallyu stars Lee Min Ho and Suzy have broken up. It’s not that any sort of breakup news about the couple is surprising to me – he’s going off to the military and she’s still super young, not to mention both are supremely busy it must make dating … Continue reading →
And they’re married! Congrats to Mr. and Mrs. Huo, or as they are known widely in the Chinese entertainment world – Ruby Lin and Wallace Huo have tied the knot in Bali this weekend surrounded by family, friends, and a perfect summer destination wedding locale. The happy couple released official wedding pictures as beautiful as many of the star couples … Continue reading →
Countdown is less than a month from the premiere of the K-version of Bu Bu Jing Xin, with SBS airing Moon Lovers: Scarlet Heart: Ryeo (Bobogyungsim: Ryeo) on Monday August 29, 2016. To start off the drama week SBS has released the full cast official drama poster that is reminiscent of every single sageuk drama poster from here on back … Continue reading →
Saturday night was Lee Min Ho‘s grand entrance as the special guest for KCON LA 2016, a moment that was well worth the price for attendance if you are a fan of Min Ho-ssshi. I still remember when he was in Los Angeles for a month back in 2013 to film Heirs around Malibu and Huntington Beach, a prime star spotting trek … Continue reading →
The lasting popularity of one hit role and drama cannot be discounted, and it’s pretty incredible that it happened to the same pair of drama costars who then ended up married in real life as husband and wife. I’m talking about Liu Shi Shi and Nicky Wu courtesy of Bu Bu Jing Xin, and their performances along with the popularity … Continue reading →
It’s a great time to be K-actor Gong Yoo, as well as a great time to be his fan. The second half of 2016 is shaping up to his breakthrough year after he hit his first career daebak 9 years ago in 2007 with Coffee Prince. He doesn’t just have the number 1 movie in South Korea with zombies on … Continue reading →
I gotta give upcoming KBS Mon-Tues sageuk Moonlight Drawn by Clouds credit for both knowing its audience pool and willing to toggle expectations. I was thinking this drama was super romantic in that chaste sageuk way, with lots of pining and unspoken emotions, but the first teaser was all period inappropriate with Park Bo Gum‘s crown prince boogeying down with … Continue reading →
