If upcoming TW-drama Marry Me, or Not was a blind date, I’d probably marry it sight unseen based on the strength of the two leads unknown. Reuniting hit drama Office Girl’s Roy Qiu and Alice Ke, this time the two trade sweet awshucks type banter for more chic and high powered work place romance. There is always the potential for … Continue reading →
This year’s 50th annual Golden Bell Awards went down last weekend glittering with more top stars than usual, and the winner were nicely spread across the board with none of the usual grumbling afterwards. The biggest drama winners were for the Ruby Lin produced and starred drama The Way We Were (16 Summers) – while Ruby lost out on Best … Continue reading →
While I’m happy that upcoming Kim Eun Sook penned K-drama Descendants of the Sun is getting the full pre-produced treatment, that does make the wait for it to arrive on the small screen feel interminable. Case in point, October is right around the corner which marks the initial dates promised for the drama’s premiere, except now the whole kit and … Continue reading →
Japan woke up to a huge entertainment world news shocker Monday morning – top singer-actor Fukuyama Masaharu got married to secret actress girlfriend Fukiishi Kazue. There is a 13 year age gap between the couple, with Masa being 46 years old while Kazue is 33 this year, but the couple have apparently been dating for a few years now if rumored … Continue reading →
While the conversation on the top Korean male actors in their twenties understandably starts with Kim Soo Hyun onward thanks to his successes in both dramas and movies, slowly but surely Yoo Ah In is getting up there thanks to a string of hit movies like Veteran and an award winning drama last year with Secret Love Affair. Yoo Ah In … Continue reading →
I have a feeling upcoming C-movie Go Lala Go 2 will be a solid hit. The style is in line with the hit Chinese chick flicks of recent years like the Tiny Times series, rather superficial in exploring themes of modern romance, career, and friendship, but visually slick and pretty enough to gloss over the lightweight aspect of it all. … Continue reading →
It’s been a decade since Tangren produced fantasy wuxia C-drama Chinese Paladin and launched the careers of Hu Ge, Crystal Liu, and Ady An, and more than five years since the just as popular second helping with Chinese Paladin 3 which is credited for putting Wallace Huo, Tang Yan, and Yang Mi on the map. The CP series were all based … Continue reading →
There was plenty of glitter across both sides of the strait this past week – Taiwan held its highest television honors with the Golden Bell Awards while the popular Chinese and Korean stars alighted for the Bazaar Star Charity Night in Beijing. I concur with commentators who have noticed that Chinese and Taiwanese actresses tend to be way more fashion conscious and edgy … Continue reading →
I’m always in awe of writer Tong Hua’s ability to keep the plot moving so briskly and sensibly, on top of creating unforgettable characters in so many of her stories. Both skills come to play now that Lost You Forever is deep into the third and final volume of the epic novel, with no signs of slowly down or losing steam. Zhuan … Continue reading →
I do like Joo Sang Wook a lot, but right now I’m wishing that upcoming MBC Mon-Tues drama Glamorous Temptation was solely about the teens played by Kim Sae Ron and Nam Joo Hyuk. Part of it is being so indifferent to leading lady Choi Kang Hee, but mostly it’s due to my past viewing experiences which have skewed towards … Continue reading →
It’s still two weeks away from the premiere of the next Fuji TV Getsu 9 dorama 5-ji kara 9-ji made (From Five to Nine), which is two weeks too long for me so I’ll have to snack on cute OTP appetizers until then. Starring Yamashita Tomohisa and Ishihara Satomi, the dorama is an adaptation of the same name manga by … Continue reading →
Moon Geun Young‘s comeback month of September has basically been an unending stream of goodies. The fun promo circult she did with Yoo Ah In for sageuk movie The Throne (Sado) showed off yet another male costar of hers that is totally enamored of her talent and personality. Then came the promising previews for upcoming SBS corpse mystery drama The … Continue reading →
The prestigious 50th annual Golden Bell Awards just went down this Saturday night in Taipei, and it was definitely one of the years with a plethora of A-list attendees. None more so than two time Golden Bell Best Actress winner Ariel Lin walking the red carpet with one Golden Bell Best Actor winner on each arm, Vic Zhou to her right and … Continue reading →
