I love it when high school dramas sweetly explores friendships in a sincere way, understanding that teens aren’t necessarily about love and angst as much as high school life is driven primarily around interpersonal interactions. Upcoming KBS Mon-Tues drama Sassy Go Go appears to focus a lot on that, with a bromance between male leads Lee Won Geun and Ji Soo … Continue reading →
This is a new twist on the current deluge of Korean-Chinese jointly produced dramas and/or movies – the upcoming Chinese movie remake of the 2011 K-movie Blind is being helmed by the original director himself Ahn Sang Hoon. At least he can’t blame another director for ruining whatever made his original movie a hit, lol. Blind starred Kim Ha Neul … Continue reading →
There are dramas which get scuttled, most recently with Goodbye Mr. Black with Moon Chae Won and Lee Jin Wook, and earlier in the summer with Shin Mina‘s Let’s Have Dinner Together, and then there are dramas that some want to see get kiboshed which inch closer to airing. Filming has begun on Park Shi Hoo‘s comeback drama Neighborhood Hero, … Continue reading →
This bit of J-ent news is like filler on a slow news day, except it just makes me happy since it harkens back to the good ole days when every other J-dorama had me interested to check it out. The Japanese tabloid recently snapped A-list actors Matsumoto Jun, Oguri Shun, and Ikuta Toma out at a bromance gathering at a … Continue reading →
I can’t believe I’m writing this since this particular drama sounded like it was in the bag in terms of production preparation and casting, but clearly nothing’s set until the fat lady sings. Upcoming SBS Wed-Thurs drama Goodbye Mr. Black is no longer upcoming and definitely not going to be an SBS Wed-Thurs fare. The production and SBS have just … Continue reading →
This is a welcome and refreshing piece of drama development news. The screenwriter of the tvn I Need Romance franchise and who also wrote last year’s KBS romance drama Discovery of Love is breaking out of her dating-centric box. Writer Jung Hyun Jung is prepping her next work called Our Five Kids, which tells os a slice-of-life type family story … Continue reading →
It’s been a busy dating news week in K-ent, none bigger than the break up-not broken up rumors surrounding star couple Lee Min Ho and Suzy a few days ago. A little less high profile are the other two dating news breaks this week, but the similarity comes from both being denied as well. So that’s a three swings and … Continue reading →
Every few years there is a chick flick (or drama) with the standard tropes packaged in different ways and sold to a new generation of women looking for life and love as a young adult. I’m beyond the target demographic so what ropes me into eagerly anticipating upcoming C-movie Go Lala Go 2 is purely for the cast, consisting of three … Continue reading →
Good or bad, at least the production of upcoming tvN drama Answer Me 1988 visually nail the late 1980’s sartorial style (or lack thereof). Those looking for a drama that delivers eye candy best be forewarned to the proliferation of bobs, high waisted pants, and members only type track jackets. I adore charming throwback stories, but sadly have to keep my expectations … Continue reading →
The promos have been fast coming for upcoming SBS drama The Village (Achiara’s Secret), most likely due to the drama filming on schedule but getting an extra week before airing after Yongpal confirmed a two episode extension. The Village doesn’t arrive for two weeks, premiering on October 7th, but the latest preview is a long one that shows lots of … Continue reading →
She’s so beautiful she takes my breath away. Moon Geun Young is back in the K-ent industry in full force now, what with the highly anticipated sageuk movie The Throne (Sado) on one hand and the upcoming SBS Wed-Thurs drama The Village: Achiara’s Secret on the other. Neither sounds lightweight even if there is no guarantee that the end product … Continue reading →
It’s cool to see an actor or actress I’ve liked long before getting popular hit the big leagues, as is the case with Park Hae Jin. He was actually a scene-stealer way back when in the sprawling cast of East of Eden, even when playing a rapist turned good guy who somehow got his happy ending. After that he was … Continue reading →
This is super interesting drama development news, and is probably nearly as broad in production scope as Kim Eun Sook‘s upcoming disaster zone medical drama Descendants of the Sun. Healer screenwriter Song Ji Na is developing her next drama called Gaia (as in the Greek mother goddess of earth) inspired by the 1888 novel by French writer Jules Verne called … Continue reading →
