This is most excellent casting news, especially on the suitability factor alone to the role in question. Park Hae Jin will be making his drama land return in 2015 with the webtoon adaptation of Cheese in the Trap. This casting isn’t a surprise since his name has been attached to this project since the beginning, but he was also courted … Continue reading →
I gotta give props when it’s due and Masked Prosecutor deserves kudos for doing the unthinkable from one week ago, namely making that flamboyant wrestling mask suddenly look narratively acceptable. Who woulda thunk it? The drama premieres on KBS this Wednesday night, with an eye towards keeping the ratings crown from predecessor Unkind Women using a combination of mature charm … Continue reading →
If there are Yoochun fans with a long memory, they might still remember the contentious commentary I had on his drama Missing You during its airing and how much I hated his character. I still hate that one-track minded doofus Han Jung Woo but it was never an opinion that extended to Yoochun as an actor. I liked him a lot in Rooftop Prince … Continue reading →
It feels weird not having a Lee Jong Seok drama on the horizon now that it’s been five months since he wrapped his last drama Pinocchio. That’s a high note as any to take a rest but the oddity comes from him working on a new drama every six months or so since early 2013. He did School 2013Â followed by … Continue reading →
This week has started off in C-tabloid heaven with the confirmed breakup of two top movie stars. C-actor Feng Shao Feng and his leading lady turned girlfriend C-actress Ni Ni have broken up after three years of dating. Their relationship was highly regarded and seen as having the potential to go all the way so this breakup has the whole … Continue reading →
With the way some K-drama castings have gone recently, and the general low pay long hours environment, it’s no wonder more and more actors and actresses are heading overseas to China to work. Last month there was quite the buzz over Suzy possibly being cast as the leading lady in an upcoming period C-drama. It would be her first overseas … Continue reading →
The first teaser for upcoming SBS drama High Society (formerly Chaebol’s Daughter) just took my interest level from “I think I’ll watch it” to “Wild horses can’t drag me away from watching it!”. This is probably my favorite K-drama teaser of 2015, hitting every single one of my happy nodes. There’s reams of romance in multiple settings from coffee shop … Continue reading →
Those of you who followed along with my recaps for Kyou wa Kaisha Yasumimasu know how much I adore Fukushi Sota, but at the same time acknowledge that he’s mostly a terrible actor. So earnest but oh so bad at emoting, hovering between blank slate and constipated when trying to squeeze out some intense feeling. He’s basically my Yamapi 2.0 (minus … Continue reading →
I’m always sad to move on from a favorite drama, character, or pairing. The nostalgic sadness is hammered home when the actor or actress sheds the look of the character from the drama. It’s been a nearly a year since TW-drama In a Good Way ended but I don’t think the drama will ever seem less than the perfect viewing … Continue reading →
The casting has been finalized for Answer Me 1988, the third installment of the popular tvN Answer Me series, and it basically boils down to one rotten apple potentially stinking up what would otherwise be a perfectly fine dish. The production just released the confirmed cast and it includes the following: Hyeri of Girl’s Day as the female lead, Park Bo … Continue reading →
The work week is off to a nice start in drama land with the release of script reading stills from two upcoming dramas that I’m looking forward to. Even better is that these two dramas aren’t competing against each other in the same time slot so I can enjoy both without feeling like I’m picking between favorites. MBC is prepping … Continue reading →
Forget star power, which is already bling bling blinding in the collective intensity, the joint awards power of these three together is also something to marvel at. The rumored casting news leaked a few weeks ago but I didn’t to jinx it by writing about it too early, I’ve been waiting close to ten years for these two to work together … Continue reading →
Count me in for the group that just doesn’t understand any of the casting controversies around Scholar Who Walks the Night now. Earlier on when a roster of potential leading ladies were mentioned in the casting process, the discussion was lively and pertinent to reflect folks having personal biases and preferences. Now that the two leading ladies are Lee Yoo … Continue reading →
