YES! I don’t know who to thank for this casting perfection but you have my deepest gratitude. Upcoming tvN drama Oh My Ghost finished casting this week with quite a flourish, rounding out the cast not with big flashy names but with genuine talent that is a pleasure to watch onscreen. That’s the opinion for me at least, but honestly this … Continue reading →
The relief heading into the final stretch of The Girl Who Sees Smells is that it doesn’t get any worse, and there are plenty of dramas with precipitous declines even with only a few episodes left. It’s just hard to wrap things up, and take this from someone who writes daily and still finds it a challenge. The disappointment with … Continue reading →
It’s a staggered May of Wed-Thurs drama premieres, making it hard to predict the outcome since none of the first episodes are going up head-to-head in airing date. MBC is the first out of the gate today with Warm and Cozy, next week is Masked Prosecutor (The Man in the Mask) over on KBS, and SBS rounds out the rear with … Continue reading →
When there is a pants fashion fail in the same week in K-ent, I can only hope it’s a coincidence but worry that it’s heralding a trend. A terrible eyesore of a trend that should have died off in the 80’s and 90’s. Minor celeb Yoo Seung Ok, who is famous for being a sports trainer and flaunting her body … Continue reading →
The screenwriter of The Girl Who Sees Smells also did Rooftop Prince and viewing these two works together confirm one thing. She’s great at rom-com sweet romance and terrible at the dangerous thriller side. Rooftop Prince had the world’s most inept villainous duo, better for glaring like their eyeballs are going to pop out than pulling off intricate schemes. Smelly … Continue reading →
I hope So Ji Sub‘s guest appearance in the first episode of Warm and Cozy won’t be the highlight of the upcoming Hong sisters drama. Their dramas haven’t had a consistent ratings track record with the domestic audience, even way back when prime time dramas easily did 20%-30% ratings. With that said, their last drama The Master’s Sun was a … Continue reading →
It’s rather ironic that one elusive K-ent star who is rarely photographed in recent years showed up to send off an embittered K-ent star who is in the news way too often lately in a negative light. Singer-actor Kim Hyun Joong, who so happens to be Hallyu superstar Bae Yong Joon‘s protege after signing with his agency KeyEast a few … Continue reading →
With SETTV wrapping up Someone Like You (Hearing Happiness) in three weeks at the end of May, I was wondering when the network would trot out the leads of the follow up drama and who it might be. The curtains have been pulled back now and the result could be a lot worse – up next for SETTV Sunday nights … Continue reading →
Someone at SBS drama planning clearly can’t count, how else to explain the timing of the mid-drama press conference being held this past week? The Girl Who Sees Smells just aired episode 12 with four more episodes to go, making it a few weeks late to try and drum up publicity and interest in the drama. With that said, I … Continue reading →
I’m confused but happy at the same time with this drama casting surprise. Yoon Kyun Sang, yes the Yoon Kyun Sang from Pinocchio who was just cast as the second male lead in The Time I Loved You, 7000 Days, is the latest addition to upcoming SBS sageuk Six Dragons Flying. Don’t ask me how he’s planning to film 7000 … Continue reading →
C-actress Fan Bing Bing starred in the boobtastic mega hit period C-drama in 2015 called The Empress of China, which makes it even more fitting that she tops the just released 2015 Forbes China Celebrity Power List. Even more impressive is this being her second year in a row at the number one spot, bringing the girl power to the … Continue reading →
The SBS weekend fare continues to reside in the ratings crapper, with the currently airing Divorce Lawyers in Love not winning in any love from the audience. The network is bringing in the big guns next with the K-drama remake of TW-drama In Time With You. Starring Ha Ji Won and Lee Jin Wook, the two veterans couple up for the … Continue reading →
It’s been satisfying watching all three model-turned-actor Vampire Idol henchmen attain K-ent success one after another to varying degrees. First Kim Woo Bin, then Hong Jong Hyun, and now Lee Soo Hyuk, all three went from supporting roles in a wacky cable sitcom to holding their own in dramas or movies. It took me awhile to warm up to Lee … Continue reading →
