The currently airing C-drama My Sunshine is beyond addicting. It’s like tasty empty calorie fluffy drama popcorn. Adapted from the popular C-novel Silent Separation (He Yi Sheng Xiao Mo 何以笙箫默), the C-drama stars suitably cast Wallace Chung and Tang Yan but what keeps me addicted are the two youngsters and the college era sweet romance. That, and Wallace occasionally cracking a … Continue reading →
It’s a testament to Kim Soo Hyun‘s star power these days that the media was buzzing about upcoming K-drama Dr. Frankenstein when he was offered the role, despite the drama having no confirmed broadcast network or time slot at that time. Now Dr. Frankenstein is confirmed as headed our way, KBS has picked up the drama and slotted it for … Continue reading →
I’m super stoked about the first new SETTV drama of 2015 in the currently airing Someone Like You starring Kingone Wang and Kirsten Jen. It’s also a good time to be reminded of all the little things the network did right last year with a brand new series of Spop Magazine covers featuring popular pairings from 2014 SETTV dramas. The pictures were taken … Continue reading →
There might be some Tang Yan overdosing coming up as a second of her highly anticipated C-dramas is about to premiere while currently one is on air. I’ve been thoroughly enjoying My Sunshine, the C-drama adaptation of the Gu Man novel Silent Separation (He Yi Sheng Xiao Mo 何以笙箫默) more for the college era romance played by the two younger … Continue reading →
I caution drama fans not to get too involved with reel to real shipping since the odds are forever against anything happening off screen. It’s like being selected for the Hunger Games, expect to die but at least give it your best shot. With that said, the recent C-ent wave-making marriage of Bu Bu Jing Xin costars Nicky Wu and … Continue reading →
Filming has started for the big-budget and big-cast upcoming period C-drama Wu Shen Zhao Zi Long with a working English title of God of War Zhao Yun. The drama made headlines last month for the casting of SNSD member Yoona as the female lead, making her first foray into the Chinese market and doing it in a big way. She’s … Continue reading →
I’m way addicted to the currently airing C-drama My Sunshine based on the Gu Man novel Silent Separation (He Yi Sheng Xiao Mo 何以笙箫默), one of those rare beasts where is the drama is good as the novel. That’s saying a lot even though I have to qualify that both are merely okay as far as storytelling quality, but producing a consistent … Continue reading →
I often wonder about serendipitous timing of news stories, either it’s mostly manufactured or conveniently timed, or else shit really does happens in twos and threes. Hot on the heels of the We Got Married brouhaha last week around the Song Jae Rim–Kim So Eun couple when she poured cold water on the fandom by nixed the possibility of any … Continue reading →
The latest batch of official drama stills coming out of the C-drama set of Love Through Thousands of Years looks soooooo beautiful. I’m not surprised the visuals are gorgeous because this C-drama adaptation of Queen In Hyun’s Man has a Korean PD behind the camera – PD Jang Young Woo who directed tvN‘s I Need Romance 2 and I Need Romance … Continue reading →
All the naysayers (myself included) around the casting of Ahn Jae Hyun as the male lead of Blood really can’t ask for more substantiating evidence then the just released new teaser for the drama. It’s so funny I was spitting up something that was luckily not blood. I actually thought Ahn Jae Hyun was promising in You From Another Star, playing … Continue reading →
Two episodes in and Hyde, Jekyll, Me remains decidedly underwhelming. Not sure if this drama will pick up intensity and pace but there is really no draw to watching other than for Hyun Bin. Can’t say if it’s a testament to his star power and charisma, or sad commentary that he chose this particular drama for his comeback. It’s not … Continue reading →
The upcoming gangster noir period film Gangnam 1970 has basically turned into the Lee Min Ho show even if the movie has him co-headlining along with Kim Rae Won. If I were Kim Rae Won I wouldn’t let this bother much – he currently has the number one drama on the Mon-Tues time slot with Punch and has been garnering … Continue reading →
I’m lumping two upcoming drama castings into the same post since I’ve only gotten around to writing about it, plus my interest level towards both is the same level of mild curiosity. Let’s go with the confirmed casting one first – Lee Dong Gun and recent MBC Drama Daesang winner Lee Yoo Ri is pairing up for the next tvN drama … Continue reading →
