It’s an odd post to write when my initial acting impression of two familiar leads turns out to be flipped around. Perhaps the teaser trailer was cut in a certain way to see famous flower vase C-actress Crystal Liu majorly out-acting her male lead K-actor Rain in their upcoming melo C-movie For Love or Money. The Chinese title is 露水紅顏 which … Continue reading →
Y’all know that Joo Won does nothing for me, but hot diggity does his first official character posters for Tomorrow’s Cantabile look drop dead handsome. Everything is just perfect in the hot off the press two posters from the attire to the attitude to the background. I always appreciate the production putting creativity to use in ways not just to … Continue reading →
The in-development reverse-aging K-drama Mr. Baek has been punted from SBS over to MBC but I hope that’s the end of its woes and the drama does end up airing after the just premiered My Spring Days. K-dramas have done its share of aging up (Big and I Love Lee Tae Ri) and aging down (Grandpa Flowers Investigation Unit), but … Continue reading →
Seeing the new stills of leading lady Krystal in My Lovely Girl (My Lovable Girl), as well as the latest preview teaser, one thing jumped out at me that didn’t dawn until now. Krystal appears to be playing the age-worn K-drama Candy heroine, complete with poor background and handful of part time jobs to make ends meet while she works … Continue reading →
I dropped You Light Up My Star early on not for anything particularly wrong with it but finding myself disengaged from the whole proceedings which felt a little but clinical. One great set up bit behind the conflict is where leads Joe Cheng and Janine Chang, who play top actors in the drama, have struck box office gold with their … Continue reading →
The labored production history of the drama adaptation of the Tong Hua romance novel Da Mo Yao (Ballad of the Desert) is best described as potential hot mess meets the boy who cried wolf. The start and stop of when this long completed drama would finally air left me sapped of nearly all interest in it, not to mention I’m … Continue reading →
I think we can officially call another drama trend in the last two years – the year of the remakes. This year K-dramas remade the popular TW-dramas My Queen into Witch’s Romance as well as Fated to Love You doesn’t quite make a trend. Add to it remakes of Japan doramas starting from last year with Haken no Hinkaku into … Continue reading →
With the spread of Hallyu so prominent and prevalent across all the Asian countries, especially in Mainland China, it’s nice to see the occasional reverse happening especially with works that I personally love. The C-drama Bu Bu Jing Xin (Startling with Each Step), adapted from the popular time-traveling novel of the same name by writer Tong Hua, aired in Korea … Continue reading →
Not to downplay the seriousness of the allegations of domestic violence lobbed at Kim Hyun Joong, but there has been a surreal “the show must go on” atmosphere surrounding the progression of the legal case. His sit down interview with the police was delayed almost two weeks since he was in and out of the country on stops for his … Continue reading →
There’s another intensely rich in story and visuals period C-drama on the horizon and every tidbit that has come out has only looked better and better. With my posting about Hu Ge this week it’s the perfect time to showcase his return to period dramas (some may argue his forte genre) as the lead in the drama-adaptation of the popular … Continue reading →
Never have I felt so happy with the decision to stick with It’s Okay, It’s Love. When I hit the cross roads of whether to continue watching or not, right around the time Hae Soo got over her intimacy aversion in whiplash speed after being the most asinine travel partner ever, there was still this kernel of beauty in this … Continue reading →
This is probably the least surprising drama casting confirmation in a long time but Lee Jong Seok has finally let the cat out of the bag that he’ll be returning to television this fall in the SBS drama Pinocchio opposite Park Shin Hye. Regardless of whether you personally like either or both Lee Jong Seok or Park Shin Hye, they … Continue reading →
There’s a new twist in the Lee Byung Hun blackmailing legal matter that doesn’t exonerate the accused young ladies but does paint him in an even worse light if the information is true. The two accused are 20 year old Dahee of the girl group GLAM and a model named Lee Ji Yeon who is 25 years old. Scrutiny had … Continue reading →
