So take this with the usual C-drama scheduling grain of salt but there are legit rumors that Hidden Love with premiere next week on June 20th. Based on the same name C-novel and starring Zhao Lu Si and Chen Zhe Yuan in what feels like a perfect character casting, the drama is a slim 25-episodes and doesn’t appear to have … Continue reading →
For some reason I thought C-stars Tan Song Yun and Xu Kai have done a drama together before now but alas it was just the usual casting carousel jumble so this upcoming drama will be their first together. It’s called As Beautiful As You (Chinese title You Are More Beautiful than the Starlight) and it’s an start-up company tech industry … Continue reading →
I’m just popping popcorn here wondering which C-dramas are going to pass the censors this summers what with the May bloodbath that sent a handful onto the shelves abruptly. Xianxia romance C-drama The Longest Promise was filmed two years ago in 2021 and has since then periodically discussed thanks to Xiao Zhan being the high profile male lead opposite Ren … Continue reading →
There are first posters and stills out for period C-drama The Prisoner of Beauty, with the Chinese title Zhe Yao which means to bow in obeisance or literally folding at the waist. Starring Liu Yu Ning and Song Zu Er adapted from the same name novel, it’s not a xianxia and seems more like slow burn court and family politics … Continue reading →
So there have been many drama stills released for C-drama Lost You Forever since it filmed last year in 2022 but recently I saw the first still of one of the male leads in his alter-identity and I just have to share it. The nine-headed sea demon General Xiang Liu is my personal favorite male lead in the novel but … Continue reading →
So it’s not just Bai Lu starting another drama filming, her costar from delayed Story of Kunning Palace is also diving into his next project. Zhang Ling He is joining Jing Tian and Darren Chen (Guan Hong) as filming has started for xianxia period C-drama Si Hai Zhong Ming (Four Seas Heavy Brightness and was formerly known as Si Hai … Continue reading →
Since Bai Lu’s drama Story of Kunning Palace looks indefinitely delayed, joining the ranks of over a dozen or more high profile C-dramas in the last 7 years or so to get shelved for one reason or another, she might as well keep filming. She’s in talks for the C-drama adaptation of the romance novel Attacking Jade. The first male … Continue reading →
I’ll believe this when I see it but so far this latest C-ent crack down on dramas with problematic elements/cast et. al. has not stopped ALL dramas from airing as period drama Beauty of Resilience (Hua Rong) started airing this week. So the scoop is that my most highly anticipated C-drama Lost You Forever adapted from the Tong Hua same … Continue reading →
For a drama called Amidst a Snowstorm of Love it definitely took advantage of last winter late 2022/early 2023 as it filmed in Europe and wrapped recently as the spring season comes to a close. The cast already went back to film in China so with this end of filming the production released a full set of character stills with … Continue reading →
The casting rumors for the Fox Spirit Matchmaker series have come true two out of three so far – the original Yue Hong chapter has Yang Mi and Gong Jun and the Zhu Ye chapter kicked off this month with Liu Shi Shi in the lead. The third chapter the Wang Quan chapter has gone through multiple lead rumors from … Continue reading →
Man, as it gets closer to seeing my favorite C-novel Lost You Forever come to life on the small screen the more I’m nervous it will suck and the more I think it will never arrive to the circumstances political in nature. C-ent is reporting that the drama has gotten the airing permit approval for the part 1 slated to … Continue reading →
So this is one of those classic C-romance novels that plenty of school age girls read in the 1980’s and 1990’s and I still remember it. The novel is called The Story of Rose (玫瑰故事) and is by romance novelist Yi Shu and tells the story of the female lead as she goes to school, falls in love and gets … Continue reading →
So I’ve lived through C-ent crackdowns on content and it seems to happen every few years centered around a specific topic or type. There was the ban on time-travel dramas, then ban on palace in-fighting dramas, then ban on flower boys onscreen, then ban on BL novel adaptations, and lots of one-way dramas never getting airing approval for random issues. … Continue reading →
