The Little Women K-drama that is inspired by the famous book of the same name but then has not much to do with the plot of that book is off to the races this weekend to better reception than fanfare. The 12-episode drama starring Kim Go Eun, Nam Ji Hyun, Park Ji Hoo, and Wi Ha Joon is not one … Continue reading →

It’s schedule to air exclusively on Netflix and will be a 36-episode drama with 45-minutes per episode. The PD remains unknown but original screenwriter Kim Eun Sook … Continue reading →
The currently airing SBS Fri-Sat drama Today’s Webtoon is now officially the lowest rated drama in the network time slot for 2022, with the low of 1.5% and the high of 4.1% when it premiered. It’s averaging in the 2% range and K-ent is saying that even Kim Se Jung can’t bring in ratings for this drama despite her streak … Continue reading →
On the list of upcoming potentially disapproved/discouraged C-drama filming requirements does not mention the older woman-younger man (noona-dongsaeng) romance that is popular across many Asian countries drama tropes. Reportedly there are a few in the works currently filming or soon to film for 2023 including Nothing But You (爱情而已 Love Only) starring Zhou Yu Tong and Wu Lei. The drama … Continue reading →

The cancel machine in C-ent is way more methodical and linear than in other Asian entertainments, if an actor or actress is deemed to have committed a transgression of moral turpitude and beyond (i.e. actual crimes) then it’s all the same consequence – complete erasure. C-actor Deng Lun went from flying high to cancelled this past March 2022 after it … Continue reading →
All that that about whether its the right move to make Arthdal Chronicles 2 after the less than stellar first season in 2020 and the change of the two original leads to two new leads is now receding as its time to look forward at what to expect. One big excitement for me is seeing new male lead Lee Jun … Continue reading →
I watched two episodes of Immortal Samsara and bounced, considering I couldn’t even get through Ashes of Love which is objectively a pretty good xianxia and a much better made drama that this. Jin Mi annoyed the shit out of me in AoL and I didn’t have the patience to get to the point she mentally grew up but here … Continue reading →
I remember when Song Joong Ki hit it big with Nice Guy and then even bigger after military service with Descendants of the Sun there was a lot of coverage about his background. He had one of the highest entrance test scores and graduated from Sungkyunkwan University before entering actor. Then people found out he comes from an academic family … Continue reading →
There is so much headdesking here I don’t know where to start. Let’s just go down the laundry list of future prohibitions a C-ent insider claims is about to be handed down by the National Radio and Television Administration (NRTA) of China. The first part is the rule, in parenthesis I try to make sense of it. (1) No romance … Continue reading →
Welp, here comes another spate of regulations small, big, and/or annoying by the National Radio and Television Administration of China, the government entity regulating the entertainment industry. C-actress La Mu Yang Zi (Jackie Li) who was in the news earlier in the summer for her C-drama The Legendary Life of Queen Lau having Japanese influenced clothing and food, suddenly announced … Continue reading →
The Seoul International Drama Awards felt so random when it launched as it combined both K-dramas and foreign television shows from various countries. It’s settled into a routine but still feels like a popularity contest even more than other awards shows. This year’s ceremony will be on September 22nd but some local K-ent winners were announced. Kim Nam Gil and … Continue reading →
