I’m curious to see if the latest live-action adaptation of the romance novel Summer’s Desire will finally make me understand why this particular story resonates with readers in similar shades to the Hana Yori Dango narrative. The TW-drama was a horrific casting mishap from the get go, with Barbie Hsu, Peter Ho, and Huang Xiaoming all being too told and … Continue reading →
Filming on the C-drama adaptation of Taiwanese manhua The King of Blaze (Fire King) is moving along swiftly, and like the narrative of the original story which spanned both ancient times and modern era, the production has now smoothly segued the leads. Starring Bolin Chen and Jing Tian, both of whom are marvelously cast in terms of looks and onscreen … Continue reading →
A trio of very different but interesting in their own way K-actresses have signed on to upcoming tvN fantasy drama Hwayugi penned by the Hong Sisters. Former idol turned actress Bora (Yoon Bo Ra) is slated to take a supporting role, in a character not based from one in the Chinese classic Journey to the West which is the basis … Continue reading →
The ongoing MBC network strike started on September 4th aimed at forcing the resignation of the MBC network president Kim Jang Kyum is going to be escalated by the employees after their demand has not been met. KBS is also having a strike but this forthcoming escalation is on the part of MBC’s workers alone. MBC’s labor union announced that it will … Continue reading →
I do love the sincerity and simplicity of top Korean stars Song Joong Ki and Song Hye Kyo‘s wedding invitation for the month end nuptials. The couple’s wedding inviation with it’s clean white envelope with white ribbon tied around a small branch with greed leaves was revealed earlier this week. Now comes the lovely invitation language that is written in … Continue reading →
I laugh at how low ratings expectations have fallen that finally hitting 10% seems like a victory however small. With that said, SBS Wed-Thurs drama While You Were Sleeping hasn’t lived up to its famous name cast and screenwriter hype, I enjoy watching it and am not disappointed in the narrative, acting, or quality, but in terms of expectations to … Continue reading →
I’ve made fun of KBS Wed-Thurs drama Mag Dog for having truly craptastic photoshopped by a teenager official movie posters, and now SBS joins the bad poster brigade with the release of promos for its next weekend drama Bravo My Life. The drama takes over the time slot from Unni is Alive and the only reason I’m interested in Bravo … Continue reading →
Red must be one of the colors of fall 2017 since Vogue Korea went all in with the color and K-actress Kim Hee Sun for an upcoming October pictorial. It’s not pretty insomuch as it’s striking, the kind of visuals that you stop in your tracks and do a double take without deciding whether you like it or not. There’s … Continue reading →
When lady luck adds an extra boost it’s best to run with it, so it’ll be interesting to see if KBS Mon-Tues drama Witch’s Court continues with the unexpected momentum boost from this Tues. The legal drama broke double digits with 12.3% ratings for Tuesday’s episode 4, thanks in no part due to the unexpected cancellation of Temperature of Love‘s … Continue reading →
Now that SBS drama While You Were Sleeping has premiered and I’m contently loving it, up next in the anticipation department is the Hong Sisters fantasy drama Hwayugi loosely based on the Chinese classic Journey to the West. All leads are on board and the drama will take place in modern times with the main characters being fantasy beings now … Continue reading →
To say I was blown away by Song Hye Kyo’s latest Vogue Korea pictorial is an understatement. There are just too many diverse superlatives to describe this top Hallyu actress and bride-to-be’s close up spread for the most elite fashion magazine. First is the wave of curly hair spreading in a messy halo around her, coyly shading her eyes as … Continue reading →
It’s hard to pinpoint the stronger reason for why there has been a Mon-Tues ratings reversal this week but it’s easy to acknowledge that the viewers have spoken. Time slot ratings leader SBS romance drama Temperature of Love ceded the lead to newcomer KBS legal drama Witch’s Court in the second week of the latter’s premiere. Witch’s Court won Monday … Continue reading →
Filming is ready to start for upcoming KBS Wed-Thurs early winter drama Black Knight, which sounds all sorts of odd and interesting. The interesting part is the story and the odd part the casting, I would have switched up the two female actress roles due to their respective acting talents. Female lead Shin Se Kyung works at a travel agency … Continue reading →
