It’s only been 3 weeks since TW singer-actor-variety host Alien Huang (Huang Hong Sheng and nickname Xiao Gui) passed away on September 16, 2020 but the grieving process feels truncated as everything passed in a whirlwind. From his friends and family memorial to cremation and funeral, he was laid to rest with shock, disbelief, and solemn sorrow for those who … Continue reading →
The ratings took a giant leap up for the Park Bo Gum show Record of Youth and it makes sense as yesterday’s episode 9 and today’s episode 10 are two halves of showcasing Hye Joon’s breakthrough to superstardom. Episode 10 filled in the blanks from when Hye Joon got his sageuk drama to when he won Best Actor and did … Continue reading →
This is one casting combo where I think the two female leads should be swapped. tvN has confirmed the main cast of upcoming Mon-Tues procedural mystery drama Awaken (Korean title Night and Day) with Namgong Min, Seolhyun, and Lee Chung Ah. Seolhyun remains such an unimpressive actress and I never feel she’s substantively improving, whereas Lee Chung Ah has grown … Continue reading →
I feel like this is a retread for female lead Jung So Min but with a different male lead and narrative circumstances it could be equally as winning as Because This is My First Life. The casting has been confirmed for jTBC romance Monthly House with Kim Ji Suk joining Jung So Min in a straight up cohabitation drama. He’s … Continue reading →
For audience members that love a good payoff then episode 9 of Record of Youth hit all the right spots, albeit purely on Hye Joon’s career and none on his relationship with Jung Ah. That’s what I wanted and this was the most entertaining episode in awhile, watching Hye Joon roll from his breakout supporting drama role to scene stealing … Continue reading →
Woah, I was not expecting what I just read about this drama and it’s certainly going to be interesting. jTBC has released the official confirmation of the full cast of upcoming highly anticipated 2021 drama Snowdrop from the PD and screenwriter of Sky Castle. There have been lots of names attached so far so let’s get with the confirmation: Jung … Continue reading →
Yaaaaaasssss the Queen is coming back, this time as a Princess! K-actress Kim So Hyun has been offered and has accepted the role as historical figure Goguryeo Kingdom era Princess Pyeongang in the sageuk drama formerly titled Cut By the Heart but is now called Moon Rising Over the River. The role starts out as a teenage princess who ascends … Continue reading →
I feel like so many things in my drama loving past have converged like some sort of imploding sun, and in a good way of course. K-actress Kim Yoo Jung has been offered the female lead of the titular sageuk Hong Chun Gi, and she was my first pick so it’s rare that I get my dream casting lol. The … Continue reading →
When I saw these stills today I wondered how it could be that Park Bo Gum is out promoting a movie when he’s in the army. That’s how much his character Hye Joon in currently airing tvN drama Record of Youth reminds me of him just playing himself in chronicling his rise to stardom. His narrative, character, and performance remains … Continue reading →
It’s fall so I’ll accept the black with black with black totally all black look of Park Shin Hye at last week’s Valentino event in Seoul. The top and skirt has streaks of color and she wisely didn’t wear black boots or black pantyhose with her mules so the skin tone below the skirt helps defray the darkness. I love … Continue reading →
There are so many accolades deservingly heaped on recently concluded tvN drama Flower of Evil and one of them is definitely lead actor Kim Ji Hoon taking on a surprising villainous role. He’s not done a true baddie before, even early on in his career and when he was firmly in second male lead territory he always played characters the … Continue reading →
This surreal 2020 is heading towards the final stretch and contains probably equal number of hits and misses with respect to K-ent. Movies were delayed or postponed and people seemed to return more to K-drama and television show viewing albeit no longer solely on an old school tube. Risks were taken and one that seemed risky from the outset was … Continue reading →
I always have fond memories of supporting roles which scene-steal and really add to the success of a drama or movie. Some supporting actors and actresses parlay a breakout role to lead status of their own, others are content to stay on the sidelines to continue and deliver their own brand of value add. TW-actor Patrick Lee broke out with … Continue reading →
