Remaking a beloved J-dorama is a K-drama staple and to date the results remain mixed. There are too many to list one by one but currently airing This Life is Our First is clearly heavily inspired by hit rom-com We Married as a Job (Nigeru wa Haji da ga Yaku ni Tatsu) and is a hit with viewers in ratings and … Continue reading →
I’m not angry or upset that SBS Wed-Thurs drama While You Were Sleeping didn’t end up meeting expectations. Unlike other K-dramas which vexed me so, this one was just placid enough I watched with increasingly detached interest and was even pleasantly surprised that the final two episodes managed to wring a tear out of me. But it was never about … Continue reading →
It was an added treat for me to watch Kim So Hyun‘s multi-episode guest starring turn in SBS Wed-Thurs K-drama While You Were Sleeping. I worried that female lead Suzy would be so weak that Kim So Hyun might be the highlight of the drama and happily that’s not the case. Suzy will never be as technically natural and proficient … Continue reading →
The first OTP teaser is out for MBC rom-com drama I am Not a Robot, still languishing from airing despite the Wed-Thurs time slot vacated by Hospital Ship two weeks ago due to the network strike. Thankfully the strike appears to be over now that the MBC network president everyone was protesting to remove has been fired by the board. … Continue reading →
It’s with a nostalgic but not heavy heart that I report on the confirmed breakup of popular Korean stars Lee Min Ho and Suzy. This top of the food chain Hallyu couple were never destined to go the distance and if they did it would have been a true entertainment couple dream. They were young when they started dating, Suzy was … Continue reading →
I’m genuinely sad even more than just disappointed that SBS drama While You Were Sleeping ended up being so forgettable. That I say it’s forgettable and it hasn’t even done airing means that I’ve already forgotten what I’ve watched because the drama isn’t sticky. Neither the characters or plot lines are sticking with me in the least, and the fantastic … Continue reading →
The 2017 Asia Artist Awards went off without a hitch, other than the usual fashion boredom that is now part and parcel with every Korean red carpet. It’s like the ladies make no effort to be creative or challenging, or if they did make an effort and that’s the dress each chose then that’s even worse! The men get a … Continue reading →
I didn’t think Jugglers could be a euphemism for someone who is good at handling multiple tasks, or maybe it’s that the K-drama is using the phrase incorrectly by making it a plural noun. But then I read the synopsis and realized SBS is using Jugglers correctly and there are more than one adept juggler in this other aside from … Continue reading →
This was definitely one of the better fashion events for K-stars, not necessarily all the outfits but at least the attempt to break out of the vanilla norm. There was color and patterns and unique styles at the VLTN fashion pop-up shop event in Seoul last week. Green, red, pink, blue, and yellow all made appearances, along with patterns and … Continue reading →
The first pictorial of any K-star returning from military service is always a combination of checking out if he’s gotten manlier and seeing how fast his buzz cut hair has grown in a few weeks. For Lee Seung Gi, it’s a resounding gorgeous on both counts for this Star1 pictorial, he’s really added an additional manly layer on top of … Continue reading →
Looks like current SBS Wed-Thurs drama While You Were Sleeping will saunter off to a long slumber after this week’s final two episodes, maybe the ratings will rise to break 10% but ultimately the drama is a disappointment for screenwriter Park Hye Ryun and the big name cast. Next week comes courtroom legal drama Nothing to Lose, which if it … Continue reading →
Seeing this particular award-winning foursome of Korean actors and actresses together just makes me feel that one of these things is not like the others. Of course I mean Lee Byung Hun for being the multiple award-winning veteran and also much older than the rising young stars besides him Park So Dam, Park Jung Min, and Kim Tae Ri. The … Continue reading →
This is a post solely to prep for this week’s Asia Artist Awards, thank to the star-studded line up that will be making an appearance either to present or to perform. On the acting stars alone it’s worth checking out – Lee Seung Gi will be making his first entertainment appearance since his military discharge two weeks ago, and also … Continue reading →
