If MBC‘s upcoming Wed-Thurs drama I am Not a Robot ends up not working, I may still stick around to gaze upon male lead Yoo Seung Ho in various snappy winter wear outfits. The drama finally has a premiere date of December 6th, three weeks after it should have aired after Hospital Ship other than that pesky network labor strike … Continue reading →
Leave it to Seo Ji Hye to steal the drama even before it airs from the two leads, or at least from the female lead for sure. The first stills are out for Seo Ji Hye as the antagonist character in upcoming KBS fantasy melo romance Black Knight (The Man Who Guards Me), playing the character of Sharon (love the … Continue reading →
I’m amused by the hand wringing by K-netizens on the coming 2018 romance (or romance-adjacent) K-dramas with huge age gaps. Like this hasn’t happened before, and enough times to make it just a meh reaction from me. I even loved one particular such pairing the Lee Bum Soo and younger than him by 20 years Yoona in Prime Minister and … Continue reading →
Keep you eyes peeled on November 25th for the 2017 Mnet Asian Music Awards (MAMA), the latest spectacle put on by music network Mnet to further promote Hallyu pop and entertainment. I’m guessing big K-pop winners are likely the big names this year with BTS, EXO, TWICE, and others, but also making appearances as presenters are plenty of famous Korean … Continue reading →
Coming soon cannot come soon enough for me even without the official first promo yet for upcoming fantasy K-drama Hwayugi inspired by the classic Chinese novel Journey to the West. All I see is Lee Seung Gi‘s incredibly intense and dedicated Korean fan club creating posters for the drama and plastering it all over Seoul subway stations and I’m sold. … Continue reading →
I’m so amused by Hyun Bin‘s latest looks, mostly because I can’t figure out if I like it or not. It’s not the best showcase for Binnie’s insanely handsome features but I do like that he’s changing things up, and for this latest look at the press conference for caper movie The Swindlers I totally came away with a theme. … Continue reading →
It’s a nice to see Park Shin Hye doing a simple product endorsement event, she gets so much scrutiny which comes with her incredible popularity but I think she does everything solidly well there isn’t much other than the occasion nitpick. It was a busy week for her having attended the 2017 Asia Artist Awards, where she either skipped the … Continue reading →
I would really be way more interest in upcoming KBS romance drama Black Knight if the leading lady were someone I thought was a better actress. Visuals just aren’t enough for Shin Se Kyung to really immerse me into a throwback type of romance drama that feels classic Hallyu and requires the appetite for copious amounts of emoting. The second … Continue reading →
The premise of MBC Mon-Tues drama Two Cops is interesting but for the fact that it borrows from so many elements of recent dramas I’m rather fatigued. Jo Jung Seok is a serious cop who ends up sharing a body with the soul of a swindler and together they end up solving more cases, all good but right now there’s … Continue reading →
Screenwriter Baek Mi Kyung can wear the achievement of lifting cable network jTBC to new drama heights after doing successively bigger hits there from My Love Eundong to Strong Woman Do Bong Soon and the latest with Women of Dignity. Unlike Park Hye Ryun who I finally concede sticks with what works and has grown progressively lackluster, Baek Mi Kyung’s … Continue reading →
The year end holiday season will have a star-studded big-budget K-movie to look forward to, and hopefully end the Korean box office for 2017 on a high note. Fantasy death movie Along With the Gods (Two Worlds) is adapted from the same name webtoon about the death trials of a firefighter played by Cha Tae Hyun who experiences the trials … Continue reading →
I was intrigued by the K-movie concept of The Beauty Inside when it was announced, and the movie ended up doing a decent enough job with the central conceit in two hours run time. How that will work for a 16-episode (or longer) K-drama version is beyond me to map out but the news reports are confirming that the 2015 … Continue reading →
It’s fantastic to see K-actress Yoon Eun Hye back on television albeit in a variety show rather than my preferred K-drama return. She’s on a show called Dear My Human which showcases the daily home life of a celebrity and pet, and in this case we see Yoon Eun Hye’s spacious condo and her little puppy dog. She’s been gone … Continue reading →
