There is a new poster for jTBC drama Dr. Slump and other than the title that keeps redirecting any searches for it to the famous Toriyama Akira manga of the same name, which annoys me when I can’t find news easily, now the lackluster first promos are annoying me. The drama stars Park Shin Hye and Park Hyung Sik and … Continue reading →
So even K-netizens are little taken aback at this week’s early domestic reviews for this Friday’s premiere of period supernatural action drama Gyeongseong Creature on Netflix. The drama is tent-poling for Netflix the holiday season just like The Glory did last year which turned out to be an even bigger hit than already anticipated of the top cast and famed … Continue reading →
So the dilemma of fully completed C-dramas with a scandal plagued lead continues towards the option of reshooting the scenes of the cancelled lead in order to air. Period drama Love Never Dies was thisclose to airing when actress Yuan Bing Yan got in to tax evasion allegations so the drama was put on ice. She has recently been fully … Continue reading →
So while I was marathoning A Journey to Love last week a new C-drama dropped but this one is a modern drama with a time slip/soul swap concept apparently. It’s called Derailment and stars Liu Hao Cun and Lin Yi with a big promo push I saw in recent weeks. But since it’s premiere the viewership has reportedly been low … Continue reading →
So the slate of January 2024 K-drama are starting its promos and a big one will be tvN sageuk Captivating the King (Sejak or Spy) taking over after Welcome to Samdalri. Starring Jo Jung Seok and Shin Se Kyung, the drama looks visually gorgeous and the two leads are sageuk veterans and standouts in that era. He plays a prince … Continue reading →
This week Tencent held its own 2023 Tencent Video All Star Awards to celebrate the actors and actresses who did a Tencent project this year. It’s like the network drama years in South Korea so all attendees are there basically known he/she will get an award. And there were a lot of awards with very creative names so recipients could … Continue reading →
So C-drama A Journey to Love has been airing for 3 weeks and for VIP viewers of iQiyi the streaming platform released the final 6-episodes this Monday with exclusive access. It helps with keeping the interest level high as honestly the last ten episodes have been slowly flagging for me. Overall I found the drama solidly written, a great supporting … Continue reading →
I can’t say this drama has been quietly airing or under the radar because it has big name leads and a prime weekend time slot of a big cable network. But online chatter it definitely isn’t as buzzy but who cares as domestic ratings are rolling in. jTBC new Sat-Sun drama Welcome to Samdalri premiered around 5% and in the … Continue reading →
So yeah, Lee Se Young is a queen, if not one already then a queen in waiting because she is so underrated as one of the success stories of the child stars turns adult actors in K-ent. It probably happened because she’s right behind Moon Geun Young, same gen with Park Eun Bin, and then had the child star Kim … Continue reading →
The weekend K-dramas continue to deliver for me, but it’s the lower ratings ones that have me hooked. SBS Fri-Sat drama My Demon is really as simple as they come and works because of it. Take two gorgeous age-compatible leads in Kim Yoo Jung and Song Kang and surround them with a manufactured reason to spend time together resulting in … Continue reading →
Take this with a grain of salt but I also think it’s more likely than not. A new development in finished period C-drama The Prisoner of Beauty is that the production company is thinking of changing the title along with earlier rumors that it’s prepping for a sudden air drop release. I don’t think it’s a wild possibility as for … Continue reading →
So the two ladies can make this an actual concept haha, lean into girls! Sadly it’s a pretty polarizing flavor, and I don’t mean love it or hate it its more like accept it or hate it. The only people I can imagine loving an actress with an excessive girly (aegyo in Korean or in Chinese it’s called pinched voice) … Continue reading →
I feel like K-actor Jo Byung Gyu was thisclose to a breakout after The Uncanny Counter but whatever is the truth about his alleged bullying scandal the fallout is the reality has has to face. His two year break and then less than buzzy return with The Uncanny Counter 2 just shows that stars have to strike when the iron … Continue reading →
