Someone is having the time of his life and it’s none other than top Hallyu star Kim Soo Hyun returning to the lime light this week with the promotional start of his upcoming Korean thriller movie Real. This was his first foray into darker material and an antagonist male lead but at the press conference this week he was such … Continue reading →
While both Nam Joo Hyuk and Shin Se Kyung are undeniably very beautiful human beings, they really don’t look like the living equivalents of their characters in the manhwa Bride of the Water God. It’s mostly due to the illustrative style being overly florid but juxtaposing the drawn visuals with the drama leads in the first teaser emphasizes the visual … Continue reading →
When a pictorial hits on all cylinders then it’s a sight to behold. Park Shin Hye in the June issue of InStyle Korea is the textbook definition of perfectly rendered fashion photography, with a generous use of a location shoot coupled with a model looking her very best. This pictorial was shot on Maldives and gives me serious travelers envy, … Continue reading →
The romance novel Once Promised is a fantastic read for those who hate love triangles and love OTP consistency, but terribly traumatic for those who need happy endings. The C-drama adaption A Life Time Love (Ancient Love Song) uses the story but changes all the names to avoid upsetting Chinese censors as the original tale was about historical fantasy deities … Continue reading →
It’s going to be a sageuk showdown on Wed-Thurs as new arrival Seven Days Queen (Queen for Seven Days) takes over the KBS time slot from recently concluded Queen of Mystery. Current time slot leading drama is the MBC sageuk Ruler: Master of the Mask while SBS is coming in third with quirky Suspicious Partner. Ruler has a three week … Continue reading →
Filming continues for summer SBS drama While You Were Sleeping, and from the looks of it entering the second half of the narrative based on the scenes glimpsed from lucky passerby footage. Leads Lee Jong Seok and Suzy have been seen filming in Seoul and their characters appear much closer than pictures from last month, now they are holding hands … Continue reading →
This Monday was the real test of the late spring prime time K-dramas, as time slot leader Whisper concluded last week and the successor drama premiered to compete with the two new arrivals from last week. SBS aired the sageuk adaptation of My Sassy Girl today and the drama premiered to 8.5% AGB nationwide ratings, putting it in the middle … Continue reading →
It’s harder for the male stars to change up their looks, there is only so much a guy can do differently with hair cuts and colors, and most often it’s the younger idols experimenting while the actors aren’t are daring. C-actor Hu Ge has been in the US studying for the past few months but recently returned to China for … Continue reading →
The medical and legal genre K-dramas have been a prime time ratings boon for SBS this past year and I’m not surprised MBC is scheduling a doctor drama coming up soon. The network is following up sageuk Ruler: Master of the Mask on Wed-Thurs with modern medical drama Hospital Ship, which generated buzz right off the bat last month when … Continue reading →
I’ve been eager awaiting what ratings queen screenwriter Kim Eun Sook has in store for her next K-drama after her last fantastic foray with Goblin. I love how hardworking she is, always following up quickly lest the iron heat of popularity cools down from her last drama. She’s confirmed that time and genre of her upcoming K-drama – it’s tentatively … Continue reading →
The upcoming KBS drama The Best Hit got on my radar when it cast cutie Yoon Si Yoon as the male lead, and has increased my interest thanks to cute teaser stills and now a set of fun drama posters and previews. The drama airs this coming Friday June 2nd in the same time slot that KBS aired the first … Continue reading →
I used to fashion tomes religiously but the lack of time and transition to digital data has mooted the experience of flipping through a freshly acquired magazine. Now I just use it to find the latest and greatest new pictures of stars I follow and there’s been no shortage of Park Shin Hye fashion spreads in recent years. She’s everyone but … Continue reading →
I did double take when I saw both the casting and the adaptation announced for an upcoming fantasy C-drama. The King of Blaze (Fire King) taps into an old school manga well in adapting the same name Taiwanese manga from the early 90’s (1992 to be exact) by writer You Su Lan. It’s the sequel manga to You Su Lan’s … Continue reading →
