So y’all want more melon on this one? So the production of C-drama Love on the Turquoise Land is happy to have confirmed Dilraba Dilmurat and Chen Zhe Yuan for the leads and both stars like the script and their characters. The biggest issue is billing order, it’s either going to be Dilraba first as expected or equal billing between … Continue reading →
So it was western Valentine’s Day this week and with it a bunch of modern romance C-dramas on deck released new posters. One of them was The White Olive Tree which I wasn’t even tracking but now am intrigued solely because it looks like a remake of Descendants of the Sun. But the drama is based on the same name … Continue reading →
So my goodwill towards C-actor Chen Zhe Yuan after his breakout last summer with Hidden Love is rapidly evaporating. Recently he got some negative feedback over his flap with his Sword and Fairy 4 costar Ju Jing Yi over top billing which delayed the drama’s airing and was all for naught since the drama sucked and neither star ended up … Continue reading →
So the brief hiatus Dilraba Dilmurat took in 2022 is long over as she’s going full steam in 2024. Last year she filmed one C-drama Sword Rose and then did the super popular variety show Divas Hit the Road. This year she’s going to be filming two C-dramas back to back and will start shortly. She will first film Love … Continue reading →
I feel like the expected success of xianxia C-drama Love Between Devil and Fairy in 2022 made everyone think that xianxia dramas were more than just niche offerings with the occasional success. Otherwise how to explain the expectations for recent xianxia offerings like The Last Immortal and now both Chinese Paladin game adaptations Sword and Fairy 4 based on CP4 … Continue reading →
It was just a production scheduling screw up that Chinese Paladin 4 adaptation Sword and Fairy 4 and Chinese Paladin 6 adaptation Sword and Fairy (just that, no 6 in the title) aired at the exact same time. Okay, one day apart in premiere but who’s quibbling, or perhaps that’s exactly the same difference in it’s reception. Industry pundits are … Continue reading →
After all that public fighting over billing order for Sword and Fairy 4 (Chinese Paladin 4), this mix up is especially funnier and more karmic for the production company. This week on one of the streaming landing pages for the drama, eagle eyed viewers noticed that the names of leads Ju Jing Yi and Chen Zhe Yuan instead read Liu … Continue reading →
It frustrates me to no end when a star’s own fandom ends up being his or her worst enemy, and this happens a lot in C-ent moreso than other industries. In trying to promote and fight for their own star, it ends up leaving other fans disliking said star. The latest backfire is with Chen Zhe Yuan, who just got … Continue reading →
So those of us on a C- or K-drama lull starting this new year in 2024 get ready for dramas galore to drop now and through lunar new year. The first to arrive is the adaptation of the Chinese Paladin 4 video game and the drama is titled Sword and Fairy 4 and stars Ju Jing Yi and Chen Zhe … Continue reading →
There are so many finished C-dramas with actual problems, like in jail mail leads, a topic that is banned by the C-government, and a cast member under investigation for tax evasion. So Chinese Paladin 4 not airing yet is the funniest shiz because it’s solely self-created by the production and network in signing a contract two years ago with Ju … Continue reading →
The first big C-ent party of 2024 was this weekend with the 2023 Weibo Night celebration that brought out nearly all the popular stars in the industry. Yang Zi and Zhu Yi Long took home the top awards Weibo Queen and King but it’s a popularity award of course. The rest of the awards all fete the stars with notable … Continue reading →
So there are rumors for the past few weeks that Chinese Paladin 4 would be airing in January 2024. It’s not a big budget drama and was filmed in 2022, plus there is Sword and Fairy based on Chinese Paladin 6 just wrapped filming that would be ready to air soon as well. But this week there is no CP4 … Continue reading →
C-drama melon time, and this one is likely to be confirmed. A big C-drama blogger is now saying that Love in the Turquoise Land (枭起青壤 Xiao Qi Qing Rang) that is slated for Dilraba Dilmurat as the female lead will now get Chen Zhe Yuan as the male lead. Originally the hope was to pair her up with Dylan Wang … Continue reading →
