Another year, another year end review. For me the year end review contextualizes the dramas watched on three levels – its own merits, how it stacks up against its compatriots, and how the year measures up against previous years. If I wanted to add an additional intangible factor, then it would be how happy or frustrating it was for me to watch each of this year’s basket of drama offerings. If I wanted to be lazy, everything can be reduced to either “was it any good?” and “did I like it?”, but that doesn’t actually capture the nuance in explaining why I hold my opinion about certain dramas. There wasn’t a single drama that matched my previous drama watching years’ sheer level of obsession, but I chalk that up to a more mature palate rather than any decrease in quality. If I had to make a sweeping generalization then 2012 is indeed a trail mix where I picked out the delicious raisins and chocolate chips and left the cashews and peanuts for someone else to enjoy. I was wondering if I should do this post next month but I know I’ll get too busy with year end work crunch plus the holiday prep not to mention this year I’m traveling again back to Asia the last … Continue reading
Oh boy. This isn’t going to be pretty. On a fairly flawless weekend where I wandered around the City in magnificent late Spring weather, eating and loling around to my heart’s delight and only stopping to girl talk left and … Continue reading
Drama press conferences are good for two things – snarking/admiring the outfits and checking out if the leads evidence any chemistry together. When its a sageuk drama, I usually eschew the former since the leads typically appear in character wearing … Continue reading

The first teaser trailer is out for Time Slip Dr. Jin. It’s too fast and short to get much out of it – a bit hokey, but not flat out dreadful (so far). I dunno what to think, I think … Continue reading
While its direct competition A Gentleman’s Dignity just released its first teaser trailer, it feels like Time Slip Dr. Jin just started filming. With less than three weeks left until its premiere, the drama about a modern day surgeon who time travels back to … Continue reading
Ah, now this is complete. The first stills have leaked from the set of Time Slip Dr. Jin showing Lee Bum Soo in sageuk clothing, which completes the reveal of all the males leads. The new stills also include Song … Continue reading
I”m sorry. The incongruity of a sageuk-dressed Song Seung Heon holding a stethoscope has me chortling with mirth. I think he looks puuuurfect in sageuk garb, minus the super cocky posture and head tilt. But I guess it makes sense … Continue reading
My love for Song Seung Heon is one of those truly inexplicable things, and one which I’m always glad is out in the open so I can endearingly mock him and gush about him without feeling like its some sort … Continue reading
Oh my freaking bejeebus! Before I get to the casting talk about Timeslip Dr. Jin, I have to first announce this new piece of information I gleaned. Apparently the good Dr. Jin will be written by two screenwriters, one of … Continue reading
Yay! My Heon oppa is coming back to the small screen. It’s been over a year since Song Seung Heon dropped a charming performance in the uneven My Princess, and surprisingly had marvelous chemistry with leading lady Kim Tae Hee. … Continue reading
