To dominate for as long as Dilraba Dlimarut has, a good 8 years if you ask me, is quite a feat especially for fickle C-ent. She’s been crowned the most beautiful Xinjiang region female entertainer year after year and it’s not even close for other equally beautiful but just a smidge less popular fellow Xinjiang born actresses Guli Nezha and … Continue reading →
I feel like period C-dramas are once again leveling up, not just putting pretty faces on screen with flashy costumes and special effects, some recent dramas have delivered tightly directed visuals that play a big part in the overall production being so good. This year alone I’ve seen it in A Dream of Splendor and now with Love Like the … Continue reading →
Okay, C-drama watching babes, like when did baby Liu Yu Ning become AN ACTOR? Like, I must’ve been under a rock because this is my Our Song fetus with the softest most delicate voice that totally captivated me way more than more well know star baby boy Xiao Zhan, classically trained brilliant Ayunga, and rocker Jiang Yi Qiao. But here … Continue reading →
Well, this is either an attempt to slide a less than well-made C-drama under the radar or Youku ran out of marketing dollars midway through the year. This Wednesday the high profile xianxia C-drama Immortal Samara with Yang Zi and Cheng Yi premiered kinda out of nowhere with the first five episodes released on streaming. This drama isn’t Yang Zi’s … Continue reading →
Well, one way to temper small(ish) complaints is to pour so much onscreen chemistry on the viewers that everyone is fanning themselves and no one has time to notice the other stuff anymore. C-drama Love Like the Galaxy is off to 18-episodes aired through three weeks, a glacial pace compared to other streaming high profile dramas which tend to drop … Continue reading →
Well this is meta and fairly awkward all around. Japanese entertainment magazine Screen has been holding a Overseas Television Show Awards for years and this year 2022 is the 8th annual edition. The votes are in from Japanese viewers and C-drama Word of Honor took Favorite Overseas Show with another C-drama The Untamed in third place. For the Favorite Overseas … Continue reading →
So I’m of the mind to just scrap this project but then I’m not the key demographic so maybe there is an appetite for a second serving. C-ent is reporting that the in prep sequel to super popular fantasy period C-drama Ashes of Love will still go forward despite a blip on the male lead casting plans. Ashes of Love … Continue reading →
There is new casting news in C-drama land and its another shuffle of the musical chairs of actor and actress pairing. The third drama adaptation is coming in the Three Lives Three Worlds, Ten Miles Peach Blossoms series. The first Eternal Love (三生三世十里桃花) starred Yang Mi and Mark Chao with the second one called Eternal Love of Dream (三生三世枕上书) saw … Continue reading →
C-drama Love Like the Galaxy was high profile prior to airing because it was adapted from the novel by the same writer as The Story of Minglan and had two reuniting leads Wu Lei and Zhao Lu Si who costarred in The Long Ballad though not as the OTP in there. I got interested due to the bit of pre-airing … Continue reading →
Dang, I hope the rumors are not true and that C-netizens are targeting Love Like the Galaxy next, because I’m caught up on that one and its growing on me. But back to what just happened to a recently aired C-drama The Legendary Life of Queen Lau, which premiered in June and just finished airing. From the outset C-netizens criticized … Continue reading →
So I majorly did this even if it’s like a mashup of previous drama costumes and also even costumes from these two stars own prior dramas. It’s just so eye catching and gorgeous, the first character posters of Yang Mi and Gong Jun in the upcoming C-drama Fox Spirit Matchmaker. Yang Mi going from the pure white ethereal fox goddess … Continue reading →
C-actress Crystal Yuan (Yuan Bing Yan) is the latest celeb to be association with tax evasion in Mainland China’s crackdown on tax dodging. It’s not for her personal income tax payment but a company caught underreporting income and therefore underpaid taxes and she was an executive director, manager, and shareholder in that company. Reportedly her ban will not be as … Continue reading →
This isn’t a total dumpster fire (yet) but it’s certainly the leading news story in the C-ent rags this week with the premiere of big budget period C-drama Love Like the Galaxy hitting like a sack of bricks. It’s predecessor drama A Dream of Splendor with Crystal Liu and Chen Xiao was a massive hit and even more impressive was … Continue reading →
