This week the C-drama Amidst a Snowstorm of Love got its airing permit with 32-episodes scheduled, a cut down from the original 40 filmed. The word on the street is that this drama may be one of those sudden airings on Tencent especially as winter arrives the the whole backdrop of the overseas scenes was filmed in the dead of … Continue reading →
So a bit of “what happened behind the scenes” is out for the whole drama on finding a new male lead for C-drama The Golden Compass with female lead Yang Zi. It’s been languishing since OG male lead Wu Yi Fan got arrested and now sentenced for a host of crimes including rape. There were various male actors discussed to … Continue reading →
Another xianxia C-drama just cast its leads with the pairing of Hou Min Hao and Lu Yu Xiao. He’s been the male lead for a few dramas already while she’s getting her first elevation to female lead after My Journey to You. Whomever is in charge of the media release of C-drama Immortality is the best kind of genius or troll. How else to explain the first release of a new still in over a year and the context is where Chen Fei Yu is choking a bloodied and chained up Luo Yun Xi mwahaha. This is straight up geared to to … Continue reading →
I can only image how low this drama’s Douban ratings and lack of any buzz would be without leads Dylan Wang and Bai Lu starring in it. I noped out of Only for Love on the early side as even copious FF-ing and staring at Dylan did not help in any way to make it worth wasting my time on. … Continue reading →
The recent deluge of C-drama premieres has its usual winners, losers, and just coasting through participants. A clear winner is C-actor Wang Xing Yue, who went from the everyone hates him male lead in Scent of Time to everyone loves him second male lead in Story of Kunning Palace, with the two dramas basically airing back-to-back thanks to scheduling issues … Continue reading →
So I don’t check out the so-called booting ceremonies a lot, when a C-drama kicks off filming with prayers and red envelopes for good luck. But is it always so coordinated haha, because the cast and crew of Tang dynasty period drama The Legend of Jewelry were all wearing matching red jackets for the cast and blue jackets for the … Continue reading →
The reshoot in order to air period drama The Golden Hairpin will happen, it’s a matter of when and who not if. As an S+ budget drama there is just too much money sunk in to let it never air so earlier this year it was reported that Lin Geng Xin would be the replacement male lead for Wu Yi … Continue reading →
It’s quite common for agencies of main lead stars to insist on a newcomer from their agency get a second or supporting role as a plus one casting for a drama to help launch the comparative new face. Producer Yu Zheng is especially known for doing and the recent C-drama Scent of Time with Zhou Ye and Wang Xing Yue … Continue reading →

So this C-drama has been bandied about for the last two years but the female lead has always been the same with Crystal Liu, one of the top actresses in C-ent and always an S+ first billing in any production. There have been various actors in talks for the drama Chang Ling with Wang Yibo and Allen Ren the most … Continue reading →
So it looks like many of the on deck period C-dramas from 2023 will air before year ends, likely in a scrum like last week or in succession with what appears to be the timing for A Journey to Love. The spy and politics wuxia drama with Liu Shi Shi and Liu Yu Ning has received its airing permit already … Continue reading →
