I don’t thinks it’s possible for Jang Geun Seok to pick a fuglier look than what he rocked for the You’re My Pet VIP movie premiere. He even get bonus ugly points for how badly he managed to clash with co-star Kim Ha Neul, who will be winning no fashion awards herself. For two very good looking people, they sure … Continue reading →
The Paradise Kiss live-action movie can be viewed two ways. For folks unfamiliar with Yazawa Ai‘s brilliant source manga, the ParaKiss movie starring Kitagawa Keiko and Mukai Osamu is likely just a frothy harmless shallow piece of fashion coming-of-age entertainment that is easy to watch. Akin to one of those formulaic Hollywood rom-coms that comes and goes and no one … Continue reading →
After three years of planning and two years of intermittent filming, the Black & White movie finally has a release date (Lunar New Year 2012) and a first trailer. Those of you who follow my Zai Zai love knows already that Pi Zi is not in the movie. To accommodate losing the soul of the story, Director Tsai decided to … Continue reading →
Director Doze Niu’s mega cast romantic move LOVE wrapped filming back in September with an eye toward a 2012 Valentine’s Day release. The first teaser has dropped and it looks absolutely fantastic. Starring Ethan Ruan, Shu Qi, Mark Chao, (Vicki) Zhao Wei, Amber Kuo, Ivy Chen, and Eddie Peng (as well as Doze himself), the relationship pairings in the movie … Continue reading →
What did I say about You’re My Pet being an unrelenting and incessant barrage of promotional materials? At least this time we’re getting some pretty good stuff, with the release of the official MV from the OST song sung by leads Jang Geun Seok and Kim Ha Neul. I think it’s sweet they are singing the OST song, but I … Continue reading →
Jang Geun Seok and Kim Ha Neul’s upcoming rom-com You’re My Pet is premiering in Korean in a few weeks, but I feel like the movie has been filming forever and the stars have been promoting it for equally as long. I was never interested in the manga premise, and add to that a consistent diet of YMP news, it … Continue reading →
It’s the 500th Edition of Korea’s Movieweek magazine, which coincides with the periodical hitting it’s 10th anniversary of publication. To commemorate this occasion, Movieweek has two special rotating covers, one featuring “the actresses” and the other naturally featuring the “actors”. It’s a black tie and ball gown affair, which is fitting since the magazine it hitting quite a momentous milestone. For … Continue reading →
Looks like we have another potentially spooky yet funny K-movie rom-com on our hands. Lee Min Ki and Son Ye Jin’s upcoming Chilly Romance is just starting to ramp up it’s promotions for a December premiere, and the first teaser trailer looks charmingly offbeat. He plays a magician who pretends he can commune with the dead, she plays an emotionally … Continue reading →
Gosh, it’s so good to see Kang Ji Hwan back in business, the business of acting, of course. Even if the movie Detective Cha doesn’t premiere until next year, I just know there will be enough behind-the-scene pictures to whet my appetite. And the fact that his leading lady for this movie is Sung Yuri just makes me even happier. … Continue reading →
The holiday movie season in Asia is on a different schedule than the US. Naturally. Big-budget movies come out in early October to hit the National holiday in China, and then around late January and early February for the Lunar New Year. As the year winds down, most of the blockbuster C-movies have already been released, with a few biding … Continue reading →
I had heard murmurings that Kang Ji Hwan‘s upcoming movie Detective Cha was going to co-star Kim Sarang, who I like but don’t exactly have this burning desire to see her act opposite him. Then today I literally got the news I’ve been waiting four freaking long years for – GilNok is back, baby! Yes, for all you Hong Gil … Continue reading →
The Korean acting industry is much like Hollywood in that its biggest movie stars rarely return to the small screen once they have transitioned successfully to a movie career. Viewers watching Korean dramas may think certain actors or actresses must be household names in Korea, it’s actually the movie stars that get all the respect and acclaim over there. October’s … Continue reading →
The cast of the upcoming mega-period war movie Saving General Yang has been in the outskirts of Beijing filming for the past month or so, with very little leaking from the set. I really must congratulate Wu Zun (who plays Sixth Brother) on his 32nd birthday, which feels like he has been celebrating for the better part of the entire … Continue reading →
