Get ready for some early in early summer because Tencent is reportedly getting ready to premiere Snow Eagle Lord in the coming weeks according to C-ent chatter and looking legit due to the official preview that dropped over the weekend. Going for a snow based drama in late spring/early summer is interesting counter programming but it might help more if … Continue reading →
I’m glad to see these two together but goodness it brings back memories of the turd-iest turd movie ever the 2019 Chinese film version of Autumn in My Heart. It”s indescribable levels of bad but since it was years before leads Zhao Lu Si and Xu Kai got to their current levels of popularity I’ll chalk it up to dues … Continue reading →
This weekend was the 2022 Weibo Night in China, weird that it takes place in 2023 but the 2022 means it covers dramas and movies from last year. The popular vote for Weibo King and Queen was trending young but the award is also decided with decision input from the hosting body so in the end it was a blast … Continue reading →
I don’t think it’s intentional as an acting niche but recently Xu Kai has been on a noona conquering warpath in his C-drama picks. She and Her Perfect Husband was probably the pinnacle of that but he’s also done it in xianxia drama Ancient Love Poetry and coming up he’s going for it again in period romance Wonderland of Love. … Continue reading →
There is a saying that “marriage is not child’s play” and after two contract marriage dramas in a row I feel burnt out by this ridiculous but seemingly ripe for drama mining trope. There was K-drama Love in Contract and now C-drama She and Her Perfect Husband also had the contract marriage that was legally married fakeness taken to a … Continue reading →
The Maoyan Entertainment hot chart for November 2022 is out and I only paid attention since I’ve recently watched a few C-dramas so I’m curious what resonated with Chinese viewers. Topping the list is the character of Li Xun in Lighter and Princess played by Chen Fei Yu. He was more interesting to me than female lead Zhang Jing Yi‘s … Continue reading →
I remember when auteurs in the cuisine world starts gastronomy and one of the inventions was culinary foams. So cool to look at and seemingly made dish]ed fun(ner) to eat but after you get past the superficial surface it’s just a bunch of nothing, even the flavor evaporates as quickly as it lands on the tongue. That’s what watching She … Continue reading →
Another 2023 premiering C-drama wrapped filming recently, the live action adaptation of Chinese Paladin 6 video game called Sword and Fairy. It stars Xu Kai and Yu Shi Xin (Esther Yu) and for the former he looks like he just swapped sets from his other upcoming drama Wonderland of Love and she’s doing another xianxia drama with Fairy in the … Continue reading →
Okay, Chinese broadcasting authorities, you drunk and need to calm the heck down. Because randomly pulling a drama a day before premiere and a month later only allowing it to preview out of the blue just gives audiences whiplash. I’ve fully experienced that with modern romance drama She and Her Perfect Husband, which was supposed to air last month in … Continue reading →
Well the abrupt cancellation of the premiere of modern C-drama She and Her Perfect Husband mere two days prior to the scheduled release has C-netizens abuzz with why. The first reason is that it’s just days before the October 16th kickoff of the 20th National Congress of the Chinese Communist Party, a huge deal, and many shows and programs have … Continue reading →
Da fuq, what are you smoking Tencent? A little over 48 hours after announcing the release of modern romance C-drama She and Her Perfect Husband on October 13th, Tencent announced that it was postponing the drama release now, with no date specified. Fans already noticed it hours before the official announcement when the date of the drama on the landing … Continue reading →
Okay, so it is likely October 12th but may be October 13th, but this week it will happen as C-ent is reporting that modern romance drama She and Her Perfect Husband (爱的二八定律) is dropping in the usual air drop suddenly scheme that C-dramas do. I don’t know when the last modern C-drama I watched all the way through was, perhaps … Continue reading →
C-actor Xu Kai’s got so many period C-dramas under his belt I swear seeing these first stills it felt like something I’ve seen before. He’s the male lead in the upcoming xianxia drama Sword and Fairy, which is the highly anticipated adaptation of RPG Chinese Paladin 6, with the numbers referred to the version of the game which each have … Continue reading →
