KBS is prepping for a late summer 2023 K-drama Pure Boxer which was announced earlier in the spring starring Lee Sang Yeob and Kim So Hye. The story is adapted from a novel about the life of a genius young female boxer who suddenly disappears at the height of her success about to win a Grand Slam. A top sports agent needs to bring her back to the ring and approaches her despite her now living a different life. It’s like an older version of Weightlifting Fairy Kim Bok Joo and different story plots but expect lots of adversity and overcoming adversity and winning matches catharsis.

Revenge is a dish best served cold but try as I might this entire plot just sounds absurdly implausible and therefore comes across as silly. Upcoming K-drama Eve sells itself with overwrought visuals and intense emotions on everyone’s faces but … Continue reading
The first of the three network drama awards was the 2021 MBC Drama Awards which was less about the depth and breadth of offerings (slim pickings this year) but about the veteran versus the youngster for Daesang. It was a … Continue reading
The 2020 KBS Drama Awards was a free for all as well, and a mix of face masks, social distancing, and still walking the red carpet. The bulk of the awards went to the various cast members of weekend drama … Continue reading
Aaaaahhhhh this feels nice, a sense of normalcy and nostalgia for how big this awards got in recent years and perhaps a nice slimming down to focus on just the core competencies. The 2020 MAMA (Mnet Asian Music Awards) went … Continue reading

The year end 2017 SBS Drama Awards was really the Ji Sung and Lee Bo Young show, with the married acting couple basically turning the event into their own lovey dovey showcase and honestly that’s fine with me. They are … Continue reading
I’m not angry or upset that SBS Wed-Thurs drama While You Were Sleeping didn’t end up meeting expectations. Unlike other K-dramas which vexed me so, this one was just placid enough I watched with increasingly detached interest and was even … Continue reading
It’s been a good streak for me, if you consider two straight K-dramas that I love a streak. Sadly the quality of K-dramas has gone down overall in the recent years and with it comes lower expectations. So to have … Continue reading
